Overview of the Competition

The 2024 International Short Video Competition (ISVC) is designed to foster mutual exchanges through audiovisual content disseminated via the internet, using video as a medium. The competition aims to promote exchanges among different civilizations and highlight the shared aspirations of people worldwide for peace, development, equity, justice, democracy, and freedom.

Theme of the Competition

Theme 1: Mutual Learning Among Civilizations

Focusing on real cases of mutual learning between Western and Chinese civilizations in terms of material, cultural-ethical, and institutional aspects, tell stories of friendly exchanges and cooperation between China and the world.

Theme 2: Nature and Culture

Focusing on the beautiful landscapes and cultural richness of China and other countries, highlight breathtaking sceneries, culinary delights, and picturesque views, while introducing new urban developments, geographical discoveries, and cultural insights, showcasing the diverse cultures of China and beyond, and explaining the differences between cities in China and abroad.

Theme 3: Generation Z’s Perspective 

Focusing on topics like environmental protection, climate change, the energy crisis, and other green and public affairs issues, encourage the participation of the "generation Z" from China and abroad to discuss and create content and interpret the concept of a community with a shared future for humanity from the perspective of youth, with an open mind and in an innovative form.

Theme 4: Cooperation Opportunities

Focusing on market opportunities, investment opportunities, green development initiatives, digital advancements, and cooperation opportunities in the new era, showcase win-win cooperation between China and the global community within the international market.

Deadline

November 30th, 2024.

Eligibility

Individual creators, broadcasters, and internet audiovisual production and broadcasting entities, universities and colleges specializing in film and media, as well as prominent bloggers and influencer agencies.

Submission Requirements

1. Entries must prioritize the inclusion of positive and wholesome content. The language and visual elements presented in the works should be appropriate for general audiences.

2. Entries must consist of original works produced by individuals or teams, with clear copyright for images, music, fonts, and portrait authorizations.
3. Videos must be complete with visuals, sound, and subtitles, not exceeding 5 minutes in length, and with a minimum resolution of 1280×720 pixels. Acceptable video formats include MP4, MOV, AVI, and other widely recognized formats. Furthermore, the video must be clear and devoid of logos, watermarks, or any other symbols.

4. Works in multiple languages are welcome. Any dialogues, voice-overs, or commentaries in languages other than English must have English subtitles. Contributors are encouraged to include Chinese subtitles, ensuring that Chinese characters are used properly and accurately.

Rewards

1. The shortlisted entries will have the opportunity to win awards from the competition.
2. Selected entries will have the opportunity to be broadcast globally, reaching more than 500 media outlets worldwide and covering an audience of more than 500 million individuals.

Notes for Participants

  1. When submitting entries, participants must provide accurate personal information and contact details, ensuring completeness. Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of eligibility.
  2. Participants must confirm their ownership of complete copyrights for their works. They are responsible for legal liabilities related to rights such as reputation, portrait, and copyrights. The organizer retains the right to use submitted works for public welfare and media. The organizer is not liable for legal disputes, including those related to rights of portrait, reputation, privacy, trademark, copyright, etc., and participants must bear the losses caused by such disputes.
  3. Teams are limited to a maximum of 5 members. Team entries should designate one prominent creative member for registration and should not be submitted repeatedly.
  4. Successful registration implies confirmation and adherence to the provisions of this scheme.
  5. The contest is free of charge, and submissions will not be returned.
  6. The organizer reserves the final interpretation right of the contest.
